Memo's Cocina & Tequila Bar, Turlock, CA

Since opening in 2014, Memo's Cocina & Tequila Bar in Turlock has been a popular beacon of fine Mexican food, delivered in an unparalleled dining environment. Second-generation restaurateurs and husband-and-wife team Guillermo and Karina Ramirez manage Memo’s and have focused on bringing their style of contemporary Mexican cuisine and cocktails. The restaurant's fresh-made, from-scratch food preparation, and an exceptional selection of fine tequilas have created a loyal following of clients.

With plans to add a new Modesto location in 2020, everything came to a grinding halt in March 2020 as the Covid-19 pandemic swept the country. Karina, learning about pandemic funding programs such as the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) and Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) reached out for assistance in the loan application process. She subsequently also took advantage of the Stanislaus County Grant program offered to area businesses.

With assistance from the SBDC, Memo's was successful in applying for and receiving funding that has enabled the restaurant to remain open - while complying with State requirements - and continue to serve its customers, without having to layoff any staff.
